CT has towns in wrong counties

From: Straub (cstraub01@snet.net) | Date: 2002-01-06 01:56:24 UTC-05:00
I am very new to letterboxing. Started 12-29-01 but always had an interest in geography. I have been looking at the Connecticut list and noticed that several of the towns are listed under the wrong counties. With detailed clues listed and having the town listed in a wrong county, I find this a glaring mistake that needs fixing. Below are the towns that are listed wrong.

Suffield is listed as Windham County it is actually Hartford County
Ashford is listed as Tolland County and it is actually Windham County
Lebanon is listed as Tolland County and it is actually New London County

If anyone doubts this or has any question of which county a Connecticut town is in, here is a website that lists Connecticut towns by county.
http://www.state.ct.us/ecd/research/maps/counties.html

I am hoping that these mistakes can be corrected by the webmaster so Connecticut can be listed correctly.

Those aren't the only mistakes. Some towns are listed on the wrong side of the river. Some listed towns are not the towns the boxes are actually in. You have to read carefully and know your geography.

So many of you have asked how you can help. One simple action you can take today is to visit The Hunger Site (http://www.thehungersite.com) and click on the "Give Free Food" button.

I am also new to letter-boxing, roughly the same date
as Straub. I assumed that the inaccuracies in
geography only made for more of an adventure.I like
the mystery. I like taking out my hiking books and
checking maps, and realizing the error. I have enjoyed
reading the different types of clues. They give me
insight into the creator of the box, and often help me
to find the box when arriving at the appointed spot. I
personally like the loose structure of clue giving. It
gives me a chance to be Sherlock Holmes at times, or
just following step by step if my spirit leads me in
that direction. No matter what, it has been fun
searching, and I thank you all for placing.

I do have one question: I noticed some people sign
with p#f#x#. I believe the p and f stand for placed
and found...but what does the x stand for?

In several of my boxes in Ohio, the town is the nearest town, or
where the directions start. The box is actually in a different
county and is listed where the box actually resides, not the town in
which the city exists. This could be the case with several CT boxes
as well.

stamps face to face - for the poster who wondered what X stands for)
